If you keep having the same problems and/or having pain, chances are your actual problem is eluding you.
Unlike other forms of exercise, the goal of Pilates isn’t a linear progression to a peak movement, weight, or speed. There is (ideally) a process of improving alignment, flexibility, mobility and strength in synergy, focusing on specific aspects according to need. You will have classes where you are “applying what you know” dynamically and with flow, other times you will return to a known exercise, or the basics even, and deliberately tease out better alignment.
Pilates can be done as a support for your primary sport or activity, and it can also be done as your main form of exercise. It is not a cookie cutter experience, and even group classes should encourage/provide modifications so you actually improve (rather than desperate fling yourself in to a movement and pray it works)! Instead of trying to fit a mold, Pilates, in the hands of a good instructor, will look a little different on each individual and can help you achieve your personal goals.

I have been teaching Pilates since 2018, and help clients understand their bodies, get stronger, and develop toolkits of simple self-care that is life-changing for them. Pilates done well makes your daily physical activities, sports, and hobbies easier.
I have an extensive background in bodywork and movement that enhances my teaching. My work as a medical massage therapist trained me to help people in the healing process recovering from injury, discomfort, and poor alignment. I am certified in Polestar Pilates, and my approach is both focused on creating the best dynamic alignment for each client and deepening the mind/body connection.
